BARI CENTRALE

The project proposes the spatial, visual and environmental reconfiguration of the urban fabric of the Competition Area through the concept of the PARK-RING as an element of urban and landscape recomposition and requalification.

The system of greenery and public spaces becomes the structural center of pedestrian mobility in which the different areas of action are proposed. Superimposed networks (mobility, energy, information, etc.) are articulated to guarantee the visual, physical and ecological connection between the different portions of the historic and contemporary city.

The configuration of the proposed new railway layout allows the integration and completion of the existing urban grid of the Ensanche (quartiere Murattiano), defining a system of buildings that, based on the historic scheme, are configured as an urban and landscape terminal and closure of the neighborhood towards the railway tracks.

In this way, the new MIGLIO MURATTIANO neighborhood is configured. Three scenic urban parks are planned as an integral part of the green ring that extends from the train station to the new PORTA DI BARI and reaches the TORRE DI BARI, close to the large, elevated plaza that connects the two parts of the city.
